VIRGINIA WRIGHT RIGHTLY WRITES FOR CHILDREN’S WELFARE

                                                       Ms. VIRGINIA WRIGHT

BRIEF PROFILE OF THE AUTHOR: (b. 1958) in Belfast, Maine is a five-time author, illustrator, food and nature photographer, blogger, recipe developer, and self-appointed Queen of recipe adaptation. When she is not tending her organic herb garden, taking photographs, sifting through recipes or cooking etc. she is doing what she loves doing most...writing! Virginia Wright first became a published author in 1981 when she sold her first writing to a regional magazine in the state of Maine. She also had several of her writings published in an Anthology-- Soundings, by the Poetry Fellowship of Maine. She has contributed opinion articles to many online websites as a freelance writer.

Q  How many of your books have been published so far?
I am a five-time author. Four children’s books, and one educational, non-fiction children’s to adult book.
Q  What is your specific field of writing?
I consider myself a mixed genre writer. However, children’s writing has made up my writing world for the past four years.
Q  Are there any specific reasons, for choosing this particular field?
Children’s writing seems to be prominent for me probably because I am a mom, grandmother & a Pre-K teacher.  With all that exposure to children, it lends itself to lots of inspiration for writing children’s books.
Q  What has been the general assessment of the reviewers and readers for your books?
The general assessment of my books by reviewers is that they like them, of course; with an average viewer rating of 5-4 star.
Q What is your own general assessment of your books?
Lol, I am very passionate about my books. Each one has been dedicated to one of my family members. Buzzzzzzzz What Honeybees Do, dedicated to my granddaughter Abigail, is very special to me. It is educational, and a fun read. I love this book. This is because of the reason I decided to write Buzzzzzzzz. The memory of my granddaughter visiting our home, going to the bee yard with her grandfather and coming back to the house beaming with lots of questions, is the reason, why I decided to write the book.
Q  Which particular book of yours, do you consider as the best so far, and why?
That is a tough question. I think they are all great for different reasons. Buzzzzzzzz, I discussed in the last question. It is educational and unique in that it was written with children in mind, but I soon found out that adults find it a good read as well.  Then there is The Christmas Secret, a very special book in my eyes. I have three others, and each one has its place in my heart.
Did you receive appreciation/recognition and adequate sales for this book in the world?
My best selling book is my educational book, Buzzzzzzzz and next is The Christmas Secret.
Q  Who is your role model?
If you are talking about a writing role model, it is Janette Oke. She writes western romance books.
Which other author’s books, do you feel, come close to your style of writing?
That is a tough one. I’m passing on this question, Vijai.
Q When & how do you get the ideas & do you immediately note the ideas down in a diary or elsewhere?
I get ideas for books, all the time. I wake up from a dream, I could be in a supermarket shopping, or just talking to someone and get an idea. Yes, I jot down my ideas—everywhere and anywhere, including receipts from shopping, and even my own hand.
